Don't bother buying this machine. This is hardly the technology and reliability German products are known for. It's a piece of junk. I have now owned two of these machines. They both broke within a few months of purchase.
The water resevior is awkward to fill, coffee brews very slowly and the caraffe does not catch all of the coffe that brews. Spout on the caraffe also is tricky, unless it is poured very slow, the coffee dribbles down the side of the pot and again.
I haven't used the espresso option and don't dare try it at this point. onto the counter.
I received this on May 30, 09 as a gift after seeing it and briefly commenting on its lovely appearance. 1/3 of the amount of coffee I've expected to brew in the pot ends up on the counter (and today into the drawer below the counter and the floor).
This product will be returned to Bed, Bath and Beyond today along with my strong recomendation that they remove the item from their inventory. After two weeks of daily hassles, I will be returning this product.
This coffee spills onto the countertop, in my limited experience apx.
My husband bought this item for me for me for Christmas and seriously regrets spending [.]. Owned 2 of this model, first one the espresso machine stopped working after maybe 5 months,I was lucky enough to convince Krups to send out a new one, 2nd one I thought my house was haunted at first when it started turning on and resetting its clock and then it started turning on and off at odd hours of the night, now i must always leave it unplugged cause it always turns on and off by itself. First purchased 12/07 bucks on this garbage. Not a safe thing for when no one is home. Also espresso machine only works when it feels like it.
Keep in mind that I did plenty of online research for this particular model before calling Krups and in about 20 minutes I found approximately 100 postings with similar complaints. They should also invest in a higher quality of customer service if they want to keep or even boost their business. I unplug it, plug it back in, move it to a new outlet, let it "rest" for a week and plug it back in. Instead of finding hot brewed coffee in the morning, I found a counter and floor covered in water. absolutely nothing.
Do not even think about buying this item. Krups won't give me my money back because there hasn't been a recall. The electronics are shot. Same thing - ok, I won't do that again - not a huge issue, but that sucks. I ask what it takes for there to be a recall because it seems to me there are plenty of customers with the same complaint. It's obviously a defective model and I want my money back.
to Bed Bath and Beyond. I used to think Krups was a decent brand, but after this machine, I see that Krups should be called KRAPS.We bought this machine in December 2008 and loved it. So here is where Krups' customer service really impressed me. Ok, maybe people are just complaining online but sucking up their losses. I only hope that Krups bring themselves into the 21st century and do a little research of their own. I had to rate this item with one star to submit the review, but I wouldn't even give it that much.
I tell them that I don't want a new one because of the amount of poor reviews I've seen. Nobody returns my call. Thinking that I may have mispoured the water into the reservoir, I tried again the next night. They tell me there doesn't seem to be a problem and that is a small percentage compared to their overall sales. They were absolutely wonderful. I wouldn't even buy another Krups product after owning this machine. So I turn to Bed, Bath and Beyond, where we bought the Krups machine, as a last resort. Again, this is just like the other 100 reviews I found.
She tells me that nobody is available and that if I give her my number someone will call within 24 hours. After going back and forth for several minutes I realize the girl is just a low-paid secretary with no people skills so I ask to speak to her supervisor or someone else with a modicum of authority. Matter of fact, the Better Business Bureau has the same types of complaints written on their website. and NOT EVER TO KRUPS again. I am now a happy and loyal customer. I have to pay to ship it to them, they'll try to fix it and if they can't fix it, they'll send me a new one. They took the Krap machine back without a receipt and with only one question, "What is wrong with it." I told them all about what was wrong with it and highly recommended that they quit carrying the product. Then one night I got the great idea to fill it and set the timer so it would be ready in the morning when I woke up.
What other choice do I have, so I leave my number. In all the reviews I see that a new one is sent, it breaks also but by then it's out of warranty and the individual is out of luck. In March 2009, the machine just quits working. (I should have done my research before buying this model)I call to ask about returning it under warranty and they tell me that is no problem.
I did expect better and have been disappointed for the price but do enjoy coffee and continue to use it each morning. I enjoy espresso so I like that feature but wish it made slightly larger quantities (very small amounts made and can only fit a tiny cup under the espresso maker). The Krups coffeemaker is a nice machine but all its attachments are very cheap - the coffee pot is very cheap the lid doesn't fit correctly it is very poor quality which I did not expect for the price. I like the coffee the machine makes.
